Is there a perfect rabbit? Perhaps there isn't Even judges have a different opinion on the same rabbit. For new comers your first show can be daunting. There are many people who have shown since they were juniors and plenty of families who have been in the fancy for several generations! There is a great debate about numbers falling at the BRC (oh, and I won't mention politics and friendly rivalry!) My entry to the fancy has been mixed - competitive showing seems to bring out the best and worst in people!!
Nobody expects to win immediately and everyone was a beginner once. It is nice to just get a CC at the moment - most of my show stock do have them now. Perhaps I will work up to Best Lop, Fancy or RV Fur? My local shows are Reading, Didcot, Swindon and of course the 5* Bradford (the Crufts of the fancy) and London, and hopefully some regional and national stock shows. The next shows I plan to attend are now later in the year. I haven't been to many lately due to concentrating and preparing my stock.
Black Otters are very competitive and in contrast the tans are often the only rabbits in their class. I have to remind myself that I am in competition with people who have been breeding for many years!
